Chandigarh: Shubham Chaudhary Appointed VP of Para Powerlifting
In a significant development for Indian para sports, Shubham Chaudhary from Chandigarh has been appointed as the vice-president of para powerlifting by the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI). He will also serve as the joint secretary for the organizing committee of the upcoming World Para Athletics Championships 2025, which will take place in New Delhi.
The announcements were made by PCI president Devendra Jhajharia, along with JP Singh, the chairman of India Para Powerlifting. Shubham Chaudhary has been recognized for his commitment to youth development and promoting inclusive sports. He holds various leadership roles, including being a state co-head for policy and research with the BJP Yuva Morcha in Haryana and an advisor to the BRICS Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he is the chairman of the grappling committee for North India under the Wrestling Federation of India and is the founder of Rich One Films.
Chaudhary expressed his thoughts on this new role, saying, “This is a responsibility towards our para-athletes, the real champions.” As vice-president, he aims to improve training facilities and provide international opportunities for athletes. His involvement in the 2025 championships will include strategic planning and operational oversight for the event, which is expected to attract participants from over 100 nations.
