Tech Moms Program Celebrates Five Years of Empowering Women in Draper, Utah
DRAPER, Utah — This week, Draper, Utah is celebrating a significant milestone: the five-year anniversary of the “Tech Moms” program. Founded by Trina Limpert, this initiative aims to help women launch successful careers in the technology sector.
Trina, who has spent much of her career in tech, noticed a lack of representation among women in the field. “It became clear to me that many women were missing out on the opportunities that tech offers,” she explained. In response, she established the “Tech Moms” program, which has grown and thrived ever since.
She added, “It’s rewarding to see how our program has changed lives—not just for our students, but also for their children and families.”
Many women in the program are making significant changes to improve their financial situations. Kristin Miles, a schoolteacher and single mother of five, felt overwhelmed and sought a way to better support her family. “I had this dream to just make my mortgage and care for my kids. I knew I needed to change something, but I wasn’t sure what,” Kristin shared.
Keri Turley, another schoolteacher, echoed similar sentiments. “I needed a better job to provide for my family. I was juggling two part-time jobs and feeling lost. I decided to give ‘Tech Moms’ a shot, even though I was unsure if I belonged.”
To start the program, students invest about $500 of their own money. The “Tech Moms” organization then provides necessary support, including classes, laptops, and even daycare services, enabling them to focus on their studies. Over the past five years, more than 800 women have graduated from the program, with an additional 100 currently enrolled, becoming an integral part of the supportive “Tech Moms” community.
To further expand the program, Trina received a generous monetary donation and laptops from Steve Wright at Mountain America Credit Union. These resources will help new students begin their journey in the tech field with the tools they need to succeed.
As the “Tech Moms” program continues to grow and inspire, its mission remains clear: empower women to embrace new opportunities and transform their lives through technology.
