Estée Lauder Companies Appoints New Chief Research & Innovation Officer
On September 11, 2023, Estée Lauder Companies Inc. announced that Dr. René Lammers will take on the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Research & Innovation Officer starting October 1, 2025. He will report directly to Stéphane de La Faverie, the company’s President and CEO, and will be part of the Executive Team.
Stéphane de La Faverie praised Dr. Lammers as an outstanding leader, highlighting his extensive scientific knowledge and innovative mindset. De La Faverie expressed confidence that Dr. Lammers’s expertise will be vital in enhancing the company’s consumer-centered approach to research and innovation.
As the Chief Research & Innovation Officer, Dr. Lammers will oversee global advancements in product development, scientific affairs, and regulatory strategies. His role aims to improve the company’s innovative processes and ensure that they meet consumer demands rapidly and effectively. He will also oversee various Research and Innovation Centers around the world and aim to strengthen collaborations with leading scientific institutions.
Dr. Lammers brings nearly three decades of experience to his new position. Previously, he served as Executive Vice President and Chief Science Officer at PepsiCo, where he led a large global team focused on research and development. He was instrumental in creating popular products and advancing sustainability initiatives at the company. Prior to that role, he worked at Unilever, where he held various leadership positions and developed new technologies in personal care and home care products.
Dr. Lammers holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from Delft University of Technology and a master’s degree from Leiden University. He is also involved with the New York Hall of Science and serves on a national commission focused on innovation and competitiveness.
With Dr. Lammers joining the team, Estée Lauder aims to continue its legacy of scientific excellence while meeting consumer needs effectively and innovatively.
