In Nepal, General Ashok Raj Sigdel, the Army Chief, has taken steps to stabilize the situation in Kathmandu following two days of intense protests that led to the downfall of Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli’s government. He has successfully convinced former Chief Justice Sushila Karki to assume the role of interim Chief Executive. This move aims to restore order in the capital city as the military patrols the streets.

Meanwhile, in Assam, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that a Special Investigation Team has completed its report on Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi’s alleged connections with Pakistan. Sarma has been vocal against Gogoi, claiming ties to foreign influences. Earlier this year, the government set up the investigation to look into an FIR associated with a Pakistani climate expert and other unidentified individuals accused of facilitating offenses from abroad.

In Bihar, over three-fourths of the state’s 7.89 crore electors have been traced back to the 2003 electoral roll. This development came during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process.
