Tanu Weds Manu 3 Hit with Roadblocks: Eros International Halts Aanand L. Rai’s Next with Kangana and R. Madhavan

The future of the beloved Tanu Weds Manu series faces a significant hurdle. Eros International Media Limited has announced that it fully owns the rights to the films and has sent a strict notice to filmmaker Aanand L. Rai. This action comes after rumors indicated that Rai was working on a third film in the series.

Eros claims to have complete ownership of all related rights, including negative rights, intellectual property rights, and adaptation rights for the original films, Tanu Weds Manu (2011) and its sequel, Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015). They assert that these rights are theirs indefinitely, covering all regions worldwide, including India.

The situation has become more complicated as Eros is reportedly already developing another installment of the series. Their notice expressed concern over claims of auditions occurring elsewhere for a new installment, which they labeled as an infringement on their rights. Eros has warned that any attempts by other parties to negotiate rights would be considered a violation, and they are prepared to protect their interests legally.

This news has left fans concerned, as the possibility of seeing Kangana Ranaut and R. Madhavan together again on screen seems uncertain. Their chemistry was a standout aspect of the original movies, which followed the unconventional romance between Tanu (played by Ranaut) and Manu (played by Madhavan), a simple NRI doctor. The sequel introduced Ranaut in a dual role, enhancing the film’s appeal with supporting performances from actors like Jimmy Shergill and Swara Bhasker.

With Eros claiming to actively pursue a new project within the Tanu Weds Manu framework, the future involvement of Aanand L. Rai with the series remains in question. The uncertainty leaves the fate of Tanu Weds Manu 3 up in the air, with fans eagerly waiting to see how this legal battle might impact one of Bollywood’s most anticipated reunions.
