In a significant development, a militant was killed during a gunfight in Kulgam, South Kashmir, on Monday morning. The clash occurred when a joint team from the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s Special Operations Group (SOG), the Army, and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) cordoned off a forest area in Guddar after receiving reliable intelligence regarding militant activity in the region. A Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of the Indian Army sustained injuries in the encounter.
In another incident, the Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended a 29-year-old man, identified as Siraj Khan, a Pakistani national, on Sunday night in the R S Pura Sector of Jammu. Khan crossed over from the Pakistan side of the border. Officials reported that he was carrying 30 Pakistani Rupees at the time of his arrest. BSF personnel had initially warned him and even fired warning shots to prevent his crossing.
