Karan Johar Reflects on Shelved Film ‘Takht’ at ‘Mirai’ Press Meet
In a recent press event for the film Mirai in Mumbai, Karan Johar, alongside producer Apoorva Mehta, director Karthik Gattamneni, and actor Teja Sajja, shared his thoughts on filmmaking and his past projects. During the event, Johar discussed his ambitious historical film Takht, which was meant to feature a star-studded cast including Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Karan explained that he had been preparing to make Takht for two and a half years when unexpected circumstances, particularly the pandemic, brought the project to a halt. “It was very heartbreaking not to see it come to life,” he said, reflecting on the extensive research and effort put into the film.
He humorously noted that every film has its time and destiny. “I’m still young,” he laughed, expressing optimism about potentially reviving such a project in the future. However, he also humbly acknowledged the challenges that come with this level of filmmaking.
Karan praised fellow filmmaker Karthik Gattamneni, indicating that he often feels more like a student than a peer when he observes the dedication shown in films like Baahubali and Mirai. He emphasized the importance of being aware of one’s strengths and limitations in the creative process.
Mirai is set to hit theaters on September 12, and excitement is building for its release.
