PM Modi Welcomed by Indian Community in Tianjin for SCO Summit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was warmly greeted by members of the Indian community when he arrived in Tianjin, China, for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit on Saturday. The enthusiastic reception highlighted the strong ties between PM Modi and the Indian diaspora living in China.
Upon landing at Binhai International Airport, PM Modi was welcomed by senior officials from both India and China. Later, as he reached his hotel, he was met by a crowd of Indian community members who had gathered to show their support, accompanied by cultural performances showcasing their heritage.
On Sunday, PM Modi engaged in important discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping. He expressed gratitude for the hospitality he received and acknowledged China’s successful leadership of the SCO. President Xi emphasized the value of the friendship between India and China, stating that the two nations should continue to strengthen their bond based on mutual respect and shared history.
During his visit, PM Modi will take part in the SCO summit, which is crucial amid ongoing global economic challenges, particularly regarding tariffs imposed by the United States on various countries, including India. This summit marks PM Modi’s first trip to China since the tensions in the Galwan Valley in 2020.
The SCO comprises ten member nations, including Belarus, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and India, which has been a member since 2017. The gathering is also expected to include meetings with other world leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin.
As India continues to play an important role in regional cooperation, this summit presents an opportunity for dialogue and collaboration among member countries.
