Israel Acknowledges Second Houthi Assault in Yemen’s Sanaa Within a Week

Israel Strikes Houthi Targets in Yemen Again

On Thursday, Israel confirmed it carried out another attack on Houthi targets in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa. This marks the second strike in under a week.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the Houthis are under Iranian influence and pose a threat to Israel and its allies. The IDF accused the Houthis of causing instability in the region and disrupting global shipping routes.

Strong Words from Israeli Officials

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz made a bold statement following the strike. He warned, “After the plague of darkness comes the plague of death. Whoever raises a hand against Israel will face serious consequences.” This remark came after Israel intercepted two drones launched from Yemen.

The strikes occurred during a speech by Houthi leader Abdul-Malik Badreddin al-Houthi, which reportedly continued without interruption despite the attacks.

Recent Violence Amid Ongoing Conflict

Last Sunday, Israel targeted Sanaa in retaliation for missile attacks from the Houthis, resulting in the deaths of six people and injuries to 86, as reported by the Houthi Health Ministry.

The conflict between Israel and the Houthis has persisted for nearly two years. Following the Hamas attacks on October 7, the Houthis threatened to strike Israel. Shortly thereafter, they attempted to launch missiles and drones towards Israel, which were intercepted by U.S. forces aboard the USS Carney.

Since then, Israel has responded to ongoing Houthi missile attacks by targeting their positions in Yemen, including the critical Hodeidah port.

Despite the escalating military actions, the Houthis have vowed to continue their strikes in support of Palestinians in Gaza. Recently, they asserted they had fired a ballistic missile at Israel as a statement of solidarity with Gaza.

This ongoing situation highlights the complicated and volatile nature of the conflicts in the region, raising concerns about further escalation.
