YRF Puts NTR Jr.’s Standalone Film on Hold After War 2’s Setback
The recent failure of War 2 has caused a significant shake-up at Yash Raj Films (YRF). The movie not only drew criticism for its content but also performed poorly at the box office, leading to substantial losses for the studio and its partners. In the aftermath, YRF’s head, Aditya Chopra, has decided to halt plans for a standalone film featuring NTR Jr., known as Agent Vikram.
According to a source from within the studio, YRF had high hopes for a spin-off focusing on the character of Agent Vikram, capitalizing on NTR Jr.’s popularity. However, the disappointing results from War 2 forced them to rethink their strategy entirely.
Chopra has clearly indicated that moving forward with the Agent Vikram film is no longer viable. In a mutual understanding, NTR Jr. agreed with Chopra’s decision and has parted ways with YRF amicably. The actor’s initial agreement to take on the role came with the expectation of a solo film, which is now off the table.
Looking ahead, YRF is planning the next installment of their Spy Universe titled Alpha, featuring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari. The anticipated release date is Christmas 2025.
