A man in Connecticut found himself in a tricky predicament on August 16 when he became stuck inside a tube slide at Northeast Elementary School in Vernon. The unusual incident unfolded just after 4:30 p.m., prompting a swift response from local emergency services, including the Town of Vernon Fire Department, EMS, and police.
Upon arriving, responders discovered the 40-year-old man wedged headfirst in the slide. Additional support was called in as firefighters arrived with Rescue 141 and Tower 541 to help with the situation.
The intense summer heat added to the man’s discomfort, so medical personnel provided him with ventilation and oxygen while they worked on a rescue plan. Firefighters used tools to carefully cut into the slide, and Tower 541 set up nearby to stabilize it during the operation.
In about 30 minutes, they successfully freed the man by removing a section of the slide. Surprisingly, he decided to decline medical treatment and transportation to the hospital.
