KL Rahul’s Dedication Shines in England Test Series
Former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar has shared insights into KL Rahul’s remarkable commitment to preparing for the England tour after the IPL. Nayar praised the experienced batter’s hard work and flexibility, which contributed to his impressive performance in the five-match Test series.
Rahul scored 532 runs at an average of 53.20, making him India’s second-highest run-scorer. His contributions included two centuries and two fifties, and he adapted to various positions in the batting lineup, forming a strong opening pair with Yashasvi Jaiswal.
Nayar revealed in an exclusive interview with PTI, “Not many know this, but after the birth of his child, Rahul returned from the IPL to begin his preparation for the England Tests immediately. While many might have taken a break, he recognized how crucial this series was.”
He continued, “Every moment after his last IPL game was spent focusing on how to perform well in these Tests. It’s wonderful to see him getting the recognition he deserves for taking on challenging roles in the batting order.”
Although Nayar couldn’t divulge the technical adjustments Rahul made, he confirmed that they have been effective. “I can’t go into specifics about the changes in KL Rahul’s game, as discussing them could lessen their impact. What I can say is that whatever adjustments he made have truly paid off.”
Nayar emphasized the importance of timing in a cricketer’s career, saying, “Sometimes, for a player or a team, things just need to click. It’s about getting a bit of luck along with hard work.”
He also applauded the Indian team’s determination throughout the tour, especially their spirited performance in Manchester. “The improvements we’ve seen in our players are due to not just the conditions, but also their desire to showcase their talent,” he stated. “The fight they displayed in the last match reflects their strong mentality and passion for Test cricket.”
As they anticipated the final day of the series, Nayar concluded, “Overall, Indian cricket is in a good place. Let’s hope we seal the series successfully.”
