Exciting Debut for YRF’s ‘Saiyaara’ as it Streams on Netflix After Theatrical Success
The film Saiyaara is generating buzz as it marks several notable milestones. This is the debut film for Ahaan Panday and also the first collaboration between Mohit Suri and Yash Raj Films (YRF). Moreover, Akshaye Widhani steps into the role of producer for the first time with this project.
What makes this film even more special is that it will be the first YRF release to premiere on Netflix following its successful run in theaters. The Netflix logo appears during the film’s end credit song, emphasizing the partnership for this romantic musical saga. Previously, YRF films were exclusively made available on Amazon Prime after their theatrical releases.
While Saiyaara is a new venture, YRF and Netflix have collaborated on other projects. YRF created YRF Entertainment, focusing on web series and content for global audiences. Their first digital release was the docu-series The Romantics, which celebrated Yash Chopra and Yash Raj Films’ rich legacy when it premiered on Netflix in February 2023. This was followed by another mini-series, The Railway Men, which paid tribute to the unsung heroes of the 1984 Bhopal gas tragedy.
YRF continued to expand its digital offerings in 2024 with Maharaj, marking Junaid Khan’s debut in a courtroom drama, and the slice-of-life sports film Vijay 69, featuring Anupam Kher. Recently, the big-budget mystery show Mandala Murders, starring Vaani Kapoor, also debuted on Netflix. At a recent event, YRF Entertainment announced another upcoming project called Akka, featuring stars like Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte.
Returning to Saiyaara, starring Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the film is making waves in theaters, with expectations to surpass the ₹300 crore mark by the end of its third weekend. As with most Hindi films, the Netflix premiere will likely be delayed as long as it continues to perform well at the box office.
