The 71st National Film Awards were announced at the National Media Centre in New Delhi on Friday, celebrating outstanding achievements in Indian cinema for films released in 2023. A notable highlight was Kathal: A Jackfruit Mystery, which won the Best Hindi Film award. This satirical drama, produced by Guneet Monga Kapoor under Sikhya Entertainment, was praised for its sharp storytelling and meaningful themes.

Guneet Monga Kapoor shared her joy and gratitude after the win, stating, “Every time a story from the heart of India is celebrated, it’s a victory for all voices that deserve to be recognized. We are truly honored to receive the Best Hindi Film award for Kathal. Grateful beyond words for this recognition.”

She expressed appreciation for the film’s director, Yashowardhan Mishra, and co-writer Ashok Mishra, describing the story as “sharp, original, and deeply human.” Guneet also thanked her producing partners Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor from Balaji Telefilms, Netflix India, and her team at Sikhya Entertainment, including co-producer Achin Jain.

Particular praise was given to lead actress Sanya Malhotra for her role as Mahima, a determined police officer. Guneet remarked, “Kathal wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of my co-producer Achin Jain and the fantastic team at Sikhya Entertainment. And to Sanya Malhotra, your performance was both powerful and heartfelt. You brought Mahima to life with such depth and strength.”

Shot entirely in the culturally vibrant state of Madhya Pradesh, Kathal serves as a satirical tale that reflects everyday life, emphasizing that truth can often be found in unexpected places. Guneet concluded her thoughts by emphasizing the significance of storytelling, saying, “This win is for every storyteller who dares to look deeper and share stories that truly matter. Thank you so much!”

With this accolade, Kathal solidifies its position as one of the year’s most impactful films, continuing Guneet Monga Kapoor’s commitment to producing socially relevant cinema infused with heart.
