Microsoft Hits $4 Trillion Valuation, Joining Nvidia
Microsoft has officially reached a market valuation of $4 trillion, becoming the second company to achieve this milestone after Nvidia. This new height was reached after a significant rise in Microsoft’s stock by over 5% following a strong earnings report on July 31.
For the fiscal year, Microsoft reported an impressive revenue of $76.4 billion, which is an 18% increase compared to the previous year. Its net income also saw a remarkable jump to $27.2 billion, a 24% rise from last year. A standout performer was its cloud division, with Azure revenue soaring by 39%, surpassing analyst predictions of 34.75%. Notably, Microsoft’s Azure platform has crossed $75 billion in annual revenue for the first time.
During a recent earnings call, CEO Satya Nadella expressed confidence in the company’s performance, stating, “In our largest quarter of the year, we significantly exceeded expectations.” He emphasized that cloud services and artificial intelligence (AI) are vital for transforming businesses across various sectors. Nadella also mentioned that Microsoft is at the forefront of the AI infrastructure wave, consistently gaining market share throughout the year.
Earlier this month, Nvidia also reached a $4 trillion valuation, solidifying its place among the top technology companies. Its chips have become critical to numerous industries, thanks to the growing demand in AI technology. With this recent surge, Microsoft and Nvidia now outrank Apple, which is currently valued at around $3.2 trillion after a 17% decline in its stock this year.
