Venus Williams Engaged to Actor Andrea Preti
Seven-time Grand Slam winner Venus Williams has announced her engagement to actor Andrea Preti. She shared the happy news following her singles match against Peyton Stearns at the Washington Open on July 22, 2025.
In a remarkable performance, Williams secured a 6–3, 6–4 victory, making her the second-oldest player in history to win a WTA tour-level match, just behind Martina Navratilova. While Navratilova reached this feat at 45 years and 242 days, Venus achieved it at 45 years and 34 days.
Reflecting on her relationship, Williams first sparked rumors of romance with Preti in July 2024 when they were spotted together during a boating trip in Nerano, Italy. Engagement whispers surfaced earlier this year when she was seen wearing a sparkling diamond ring.
“My fiancé is here and he really encouraged me to keep playing,” Williams mentioned after her first singles win since the Cincinnati Masters in 2023.
Having taken a 16-month break from the sport, Williams expressed her deep appreciation for Preti’s support, saying he inspired her during challenging training sessions. “There were times I just wanted to take it easy. Tennis is tough! You don’t realize how demanding it can be, like working a 9 to 5 where you’re constantly moving,” she noted. “He helped me push through, and it’s amazing to be here. He’s never seen me play,” she added.
Andrea Preti, born in Denmark in 1988 and raised in Italy, is a talented artist who started as a fashion model before moving on to acting and directing.
Looking ahead, Williams faces a tough match in the Round of 16 against Poland’s Magdalena Frech, currently ranked World No. 24 and fifth seed. Earlier, she and her American partner Hailey Baptiste were eliminated from the women’s doubles after a close match, losing 4–6, 6–3, 6–10 to Taylor Townsend and Zhang Shuai.
