SES Expands Connectivity with New Satellite Launch
SES has successfully launched its latest O3b mPOWER satellites using a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The launch took place at 5:12 PM local time on July 22. This new addition will enhance global coverage and increase the capacity of SES’s next-generation medium Earth orbit (MEO) satellite system, O3b mPOWER.
Operational since 2024, the O3b mPOWER system has been providing crucial services to mobility, government, enterprise, and cloud customers worldwide. The two satellites launched recently will join the existing eight O3b mPOWER satellites, offering a range of connectivity from tens of Mbps to several gigabits per second for various locations.
Looking ahead, three more O3b mPOWER satellites are being manufactured, with plans for their launch in 2026. When this constellation is fully deployed by 2027, it is expected to triple the available capacity.
