Snoop Dogg Joins Forces with Luka Modric as Co-Owner of Swansea City

Snoop Dogg Joins Ownership Group of Swansea City

Swansea City has welcomed a surprising new member to its ownership team: the American rapper Snoop Dogg. The club announced on Thursday that the 53-year-old artist, whose real name is Calvin Broadus, has become a minority investor alongside football legend Luka Modric.

The news follows Snoop Dogg’s recent appearance as a model for Swansea’s new home kit for the 2025-26 season, which sparked speculation about his involvement with the club. Now, those rumors have been confirmed with Snoop officially taking a stake in the Welsh team.

“My love of football is well known, but it feels special to me that I make my move into club ownership with Swansea City,” Snoop said in a statement on the club’s website. “The story of the club and the area really struck a chord with me. This is a proud, working-class city and club—an underdog that bites back, just like me.”

Snoop Dogg’s investment is thought to have been facilitated through connections with American businessmen Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, who played a significant role in taking over Swansea last November. Both Cravatt and Cohen are part of a broader group of investors, including Luka Modric, who joined the ownership group in April, shortly before his transfer to AC Milan.

With over 100 million followers on social media, Snoop Dogg is expected to greatly increase Swansea’s visibility worldwide. The club’s ownership group stated, “Snoop’s colossal global fanbase will certainly help us achieve that. He has shown his excitement about joining the club and his love for football, and we believe his involvement will assist us in creating a competitive team.”

Swansea is at a critical juncture, having reported a pre-tax loss of £15.2 million in the last financial year. The ownership group aims to enhance the club’s global profile to boost revenue and stay compliant with English football’s financial sustainability rules.

As Swansea City looks to improve its fortunes, questions arise about whether they might produce their own documentary series, following the success of fellow Welsh club Wrexham, which has gained fame under the ownership of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

For now, the focus remains on football. Snoop Dogg’s enthusiasm for the sport, along with his vast reach and influence, makes him an interesting and unexpected addition to the Swansea City family. “I’m proud to be part of Swansea City,” he added. “I’ll do all I can to help the club.”
