Rishabh Pant Steals the Show on Day 4 of Edgbaston Test
Rishabh Pant was the star of the day during the fourth day of the Edgbaston Test, bringing lots of laughter as he let his bat fly out of his hands. The amusing moment happened in the 34th over when Pant attempted a big hit, resulting in the bat soaring away. Both the crowd and the Indian team shared a good laugh as he went to retrieve it.
Stars like Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj were seen chuckling at Pant’s antics, reminiscent of a similar incident during the IPL this season, where he lost his wicket. Fortunately, this time, he managed to stay in the game.
Dinesh Karthik and Stuart Broad, who were commentating, also weighed in, with Karthik praising Pant’s lively presence at the stadium. “Pant has certainly lit this stadium up! He lost his bat and then lost his shape,” he remarked to Sky Sports. Broad added that viewers should stay tuned for more from Pant, saying, “It’s chaos. You never know what he’s going to do next, not even he does!”
Pant Faces Two Close Calls
With a clear plan to score quickly, Pant started strong in the second innings, hitting a boundary and a six on his third and fourth balls. However, he had a bit of luck on his side when Zak Crawley dropped a straightforward catch while Pant was on 10. Moments later, he narrowly avoided losing his wicket when his leading edge went towards Chris Woakes, whose diving effort fell short.
By the end of the first session, Pant was unbeaten on 41, helping India extend their lead to over 350 runs.
