Wimbledon 2025: Alcaraz, Norrie, and Mertens Move to Fourth Round

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz faced a tough challenge from Jan-Lennard Struff but ultimately prevailed to reach the fourth round of Wimbledon 2025 on July 4. Alongside him, both Cameron Norrie and Elise Mertens also advanced with their victories over Mattia Belucci and Elina Svitolina, respectively.

Alcaraz showcased his skill and determination, extending his impressive winning streak to 21 matches with a score of 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4. The Spaniard fought hard to deal with the pressure from Struff and notched his 17th consecutive win at Wimbledon, aiming to become the fifth player in the Open Era to claim three titles at this prestigious tournament.

The match marked their fifth encounter, and Alcaraz came out aggressively, breaking Struff’s serve twice in the opening set. However, he faced a dip in form during the second set, winning just 53% of his first-serve points. Struff capitalized on this, making it tough for the defending champion.

Fortunately for Alcaraz, he regained his rhythm in the third set and finished strong in the fourth with a series of remarkable drop volleys, concluding the match in two hours and 25 minutes. Next, he will take on Andrey Rublev in the fourth round.

Norrie and Mertens Advance

Cameron Norrie secured his spot in the fourth round with a straight-sets win over Mattia Belucci, finishing with a score of 7-6 (5), 6-4, 6-3. This victory makes him the sole British player left in the men’s draw after Jack Draper’s earlier exit.

Norrie’s match wasn’t without its challenges. Belucci initially took control, breaking Norrie in the first game and managing to hold his serve. However, Norrie fought back, winning a tense tie-break in the first set. After that, he cruised through the rest of the match and will face Nicolas Jarry in the next round.

On the women’s side, Elise Mertens continued her strong performance by defeating two-time Wimbledon semi-finalist Elina Svitolina in straight sets, finishing with a score of 6-1, 7-6. This victory secured her place in the fourth round as well.

Stay tuned for more updates as the tournament progresses!
