Indian Chess Star Vidit Gujrathi Clashes with X User Over Family Insult
Indian chess champion Vidit Gujrathi recently found himself in a heated exchange with a well-known user on X, known as LiverDoc. The confrontation began on July 3, when Vidit, a vital part of India’s gold-winning Olympiad team, shared a heartfelt post honoring his family on Doctor’s Day.
In his post, Vidit included a photo featuring his parents, wife, and sister, and shared details about their professions. He highlighted that his father works as an Ayurvedic migraine specialist, his mother is a cosmetologist, his wife holds an MD in homeopathy, and his sister is a physiotherapist. This celebration quickly drew attention from other users, including LiverDoc.
LiverDoc responded to Vidit’s post, claiming that none of his family members truly qualify as doctors. This comment gained traction on social media and prompted a strong reaction from Vidit.
In his reply, Vidit defended his family passionately. He pointed out that while LiverDoc builds his profile by insulting others, his family has dedicated their lives to healing people, often without seeking recognition. He emphasized their qualifications and the sacrifices they made to support his journey.
Despite Vidit’s firm stance, LiverDoc continued the debate, elaborating on the significance of Doctor’s Day in India, marked by the birth and death anniversary of Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, a notable figure in medicine. He argued that professions like Ayurveda, homeopathy, and cosmetology do not fall under the category of clinical medicine and labeled some of them as “pseudoscience.”
LiverDoc’s comments sparked further frustration from Vidit, who firmly stated that he would not stand for any mockery directed at his family. He described LiverDoc as a troll and insisted that individuals should not dictate how others live or define their professional standing.
Vidit concluded by expressing that his post was simply an act of gratitude. He emphasized that while some conversations might not deserve engagement, he felt compelled to speak up when his family was ridiculed. With that, he redirected his focus back to what truly matters, dismissing any further noise from the online spat.
