Governor Announces Funding for Rural Health Care in New Mexico

On Friday, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham shared exciting news about financial support for rural health care providers in New Mexico. Through a recent press release, she revealed that $20 million is available from the state’s Rural Health Care Delivery Fund.

This funding, part of a larger commitment to enhance health care access across the state, aims to improve services in rural areas. "This $20 million investment shows our determination to boost health care access in rural New Mexico," said Lujan Grisham. She encouraged eligible providers to seize this opportunity to collaborate with her administration to improve health services in their local communities.

The governor’s announcement highlighted that this funding builds on a previous investment of $126 million made over the past two years. These funds are designed to help rural health care providers manage their operational costs and expand their services.

This funding cycle specifically focuses on enhancing access to primary care services throughout New Mexico. By promoting the growth of primary care, the initiative aims to bolster community health infrastructure and ensure that residents in rural regions receive high-quality health care.

To assist interested providers, the state is hosting a webinar on Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. titled "FY26-28 Rural Health Care Delivery Fund: Overview and Application Guidance." This session will offer valuable insights into how to apply for the funds, including eligibility requirements, application timelines, and tips for creating a successful proposal.

For more details, providers can visit the New Mexico Health Care Authority’s website and find information under the Rural Health Care Delivery Fund section.
