Gautam Gambhir Backs Shubman Gill as Future Captain for India
Gautam Gambhir believes that Shubman Gill possesses the qualities needed to lead India as a captain. However, he emphasized the importance of giving the young player time to develop in this role. Gill made his captaincy debut at Headingley, but unfortunately, the match ended in a loss for India.
During a press conference, Gambhir shared his thoughts, saying, "It was Gill’s first Test match as captain, and naturally, there would be nerves. Not everyone gets this chance, and he performed remarkably well. The way he batted in the first innings was impressive. I can only imagine how nervous he felt, especially after scoring a hundred in his debut as captain."
Gambhir acknowledged that while Gill has all the attributes to be a great leader, patience is essential. "We need to give him time to grow into this role. It’s early days,” he added.
