KL Rahul Shines with a Century and Multilingual Skills in Leeds Test
In a remarkable display during the second innings against England in the Leeds Test, KL Rahul scored an impressive 137 runs. This outstanding performance included partnerships with teammates Sai Sudharsan, Rishabh Pant, and Karun Nair, representing different states.
A video shared widely on social media captured Rahul conversing with Sudharsan in Tamil. He advised the young player from Tamil Nadu about the good bounce on the pitch, saying, “Machi, nalla bounce irikke," which translates to "There is some good bounce on the track."
Throughout their vital 195-run partnership, Rahul was often seen communicating with Pant in Hindi, keeping the vice-captain calm and focused as they built a strong position for their team.
With Karun Nair, Rahul switched to Kannada, showcasing his ability to connect with teammates in their native tongues.
Dinesh Karthik Praises Rahul’s Versatility
Commentator Dinesh Karthik expressed his admiration for Rahul’s language skills while on air. Karthik noted, “He’s speaking Tamil to Sai Sudharsan, Hindi to Rishabh, and Kannada to Karun Nair. He’s not only skilled in batting but also in languages.”
In terms of batting, Rahul was exceptional, reaching his century in just 202 balls. With this achievement, he surpassed legends Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid to become the Indian opener with the most hundreds in England.
Thanks to Rahul’s century, India managed to score 365 runs in their second innings, setting a challenging target of 371 for England to chase.
