The exciting India vs Pakistan match in the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup is set for October 5 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. This match is part of a special arrangement between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to hold games at neutral venues. Given the fierce rivalry between these two cricketing nations, this clash is anticipated to be one of the highlights of the tournament.
The Women’s ODI World Cup kicks off on September 30, with India facing Sri Lanka at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. According to reports, India will play its group matches at various locations, including Bengaluru and Colombo. Notable matches for India include games against Bangladesh on October 26 in Bengaluru and against the defending champions, Australia.
Pakistan, having qualified through the World Cup qualifiers held in Lahore earlier this year, will also play all their games in Colombo. This decision reflects the ongoing diplomatic issues between India and Pakistan. As a result, Pakistan will face teams like Bangladesh (October 2), England (October 15), New Zealand (October 18), South Africa (October 21), and Sri Lanka (October 24) all in Colombo.
Australia, the reigning champions, will start their title defense on October 1 against New Zealand in Indore. They will also meet Pakistan on October 8 in Colombo and have a much-anticipated rematch against England on October 22 in Indore, a replay of the 2022 final.
The tournament will feature a total of 28 league matches, followed by three knockout games, taking place across five venues: Bengaluru, Indore, Guwahati, Visakhapatnam, and Colombo. The first semi-final is scheduled for October 29 in Guwahati or Colombo, depending on which teams proceed, while the second semi-final will be on October 30 in Bengaluru. The final match will take place on November 2, with the venue being either Bengaluru or Colombo based on the participating teams.
This will be India’s first time hosting the Women’s ODI World Cup since 2013, and the format remains the same as in 2022, with eight teams competing in a round-robin stage, and the top four moving on to the semi-finals. Notably, the West Indies did not qualify for this tournament, as they lost out to Bangladesh on net run rate during the qualifiers.
