Tragic Bridge Collapse in Maharashtra Claims Lives
NEW DELHI — A tragic incident occurred in Maharashtra’s Pune district where an iron bridge fell, leading to the deaths of at least two individuals. Many more are feared to have been swept away in the river beneath, according to reports from the Press Trust of India.
Emergency teams, including the National Disaster Response Force, have been deployed to assist in rescue operations. Efforts are ongoing to locate those who may still be missing.
The collapse took place in the Kundamala area, which recently experienced heavy rainfall, causing the river to swell. Fortunately, authorities noted that it was not raining at the time of the incident.
So far, five people have been rescued from the river and have been taken to the hospital for treatment. The situation remains under close monitoring as rescue operations continue.
