Superstar Aamir Khan is gearing up for the release of Sitaare Zameen Par on June 20. Unlike his usual practice of picking new projects only after a film is released, Aamir has made an exception this time. Recently, it was announced that he will portray Dadasaheb Phalke, the pioneer of Indian cinema, in a film directed by the renowned Rajkumar Hirani. Additionally, there are rumors of him collaborating with popular South Indian director Lokesh Kanagaraj and discussions about a sequel to his hit film PK from 2014.
In a recent media interaction, Aamir addressed questions about his upcoming projects. He clarified that the talk surrounding PK 2 is just a rumor, stating, “I don’t know anything about it.” He confirmed that the film on Dadasaheb Phalke is indeed in the works with Hirani.
When asked about the superhero film with Lokesh Kanagaraj, Aamir shared, “Yes, we are working on it. It’s a large-scale action film set to start filming in the second half of 2026.” He added, “I can’t say much more about it right now. That’s two years from now!”
Aamir also expressed his long-standing dream project: Mahabharat. He mentioned, “This has been my dream for the last 25 years. Creating Mahabharat is not just a film; it’s like embarking on a grand journey. I need to prepare for it, and I’m working on that. Whether I will realize this dream or not is still uncertain. I can’t share any casting details at this moment either, as I don’t have the full picture yet.”
He firmly believes in starting the journey towards this ambitious project, even if it remains a dream for now. “I’ve wanted to work on Mahabharat for 25 years, but it’s a unique journey. I don’t know where it will lead, but I am committed to beginning it,” Aamir concluded.
