Rajeev Shukla to Step in as Interim BCCI President

Rajeev Shukla is preparing to take on the role of interim President of the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) as the current President, Roger Binny, approaches the official age limit for the position. Shukla, who is currently the vice president of the cricket board, will serve in this role for three months while a new president is elected.

Roger Binny, a celebrated member of the 1983 World Cup-winning team, will turn 70 on July 19, exceeding the age limit outlined in the BCCI’s rules. As a result, Rajeev Shukla will temporarily assume the responsibilities of the president until a suitable replacement is chosen.

Binny began his role as BCCI President in 2022, succeeding Sourav Ganguly. He has a notable cricketing background, having played 27 Test matches and 72 ODIs for India, taking a total of 124 wickets. His significant contribution to India’s cricket history includes being the leading wicket-taker in the 1983 World Cup, claiming 18 wickets across eight games.

Meanwhile, Rajeev Shukla has been fulfilling the role of BCCI vice president since 2020. He also served as the Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association until 2017 and was the chairman of the Indian Premier League (IPL) until 2018.
