Indian Diaspora in the UK Applauds Government’s Action Against Terrorism
London, June 2 – Members of the Indian community in the UK have expressed their appreciation for the decisive actions taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government against cross-border terrorism, particularly highlighting Operation Sindoor. They feel proud of India’s strong response to terrorism sponsored by Pakistan.
These sentiments were shared during an outreach event organized by the Indian Embassy in London, where a parliamentary delegation, led by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, engaged with the Indian diaspora. The discussions focused on India’s clear and unified stand against terrorism.
The nine-member delegation, which included MPs from various parties, arrived in London late Saturday and was welcomed by India’s High Commissioner to the UK, Vivek Doraiswami.
During their interaction with the Indian community, many praised Operation Sindoor and the leadership demonstrated by PM Modi. One community member remarked, "Operation Sindoor is a significant achievement. In just five days, we showed Pakistan our capabilities, and the world recognized it. Pakistan’s military even requested a ceasefire, emphasizing the operation’s success. If Pakistan tries anything again, we are prepared to respond."
Another attendee shared, "I support Operation Sindoor because it represents not just an ornament for married women but also symbolizes India’s unity in protecting our loved ones. We must not tolerate violence or terrorism, and it’s our right to respond if attacked."
A third community member expressed their eagerness to hear more about the operation and the situation in Kashmir, emphasizing the need for safety for Indians both at home and abroad.
Another speaker from the diaspora stated, "We all gathered here to discuss India’s firm stance against terrorism. Though we desire peace with Pakistan, we will defend ourselves if necessary. Our message today is that Operation Sindoor was the right action."
The delegation, during its UK visit, also paid their respects at the Ambedkar Museum in London, honoring the legacy of B.R. Ambedkar. They reflected on the stark contrast between the values of Indian democracy and the terrorism that has plagued the country, including the infamous attacks in Mumbai on November 26, 2008.
Throughout their four-day visit, the delegation is set to engage with various leaders in the UK, including meetings with Speaker of the House of Commons Lindsay Hoyle and others in media and think tanks.
The Indian Embassy in London previously shared news of the delegation’s commitment to fighting terrorism in a post online, highlighting their mission during this important visit.
