The Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals players returned to Delhi from Dharamshala after their IPL 2025 match was called off due to security concerns stemming from attacks across India. The match was halted in the 11th over while PBKS was batting, prompting an immediate evacuation of the stadium.
To ensure their safety, a special Vande Bharat train was organized, allowing players, coaching staff, and officials to travel from Dharamshala to Delhi. They arrived in the capital on May 9, where they were seen disembarking from the train.
In an official statement shared on their Instagram, the Punjab Kings confirmed that all team members are safe and expressed gratitude to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), IPL, Indian Railways, and local police for their support during the situation. They emphasized the importance of calm reporting during these challenging times.
“All our players, support staff, and everyone associated with Punjab Kings cricket operations are safe and sound. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the BCCI, IPL, Indian Railways, and local authorities for their efforts in ensuring the safety of everyone involved,” the statement said.
The statement also acknowledged the leadership of their operational teams and the support of fans throughout the season. They emphasized the need for unity and composure, particularly in light of the ongoing situation.
In related news, the BCCI officially announced on May 9 that the IPL will be suspended for one week in light of the increasing tensions between India and Pakistan. Further news regarding the tournament’s schedule and venues will be released soon.
