I guide her to platforms like Google News to cross-check any claims she sees on social media. If she can’t find credible support for the information, it’s likely not true.
Understanding Algorithms
We discuss how algorithms work and how they affect the content she sees. It’s important for her to recognize that platforms like YouTube and TikTok personalize her experience based on her viewing habits. I encourage her to think critically: Why is a certain type of content appearing frequently? What motives might be behind it?
Caution with Influencers
I also talk to her about the influencers she follows. While they may seem entertaining, it’s crucial to understand that many are driven by profit, sometimes using AI to create content that may not be entirely genuine. This awareness helps her remain cautious about what she consumes.
Spotting AI-Generated Content
To help her identify AI-generated video content, I’ve pointed out common signs. For instance, she can look for unnatural facial movements, odd voice tones, or peculiar editing. Being able to spot these indicators empowers her to make more informed choices about what she watches.
Embracing AI’s Potential
Despite my concerns, I want my daughter to know that AI isn’t all bad. In fact, it has great potential when used responsibly. The tech sector is evolving, and I believe it’s vital to have more diverse voices shaping its future.
