Harshal Patel Reveals Game Plan Against MS Dhoni in IPL 2025
In an exciting match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Harshal Patel shared how he successfully dismissed legendary player MS Dhoni. This marked the fourth time Harshal has gotten Dhoni out in T20 cricket, making him one of the few bowlers to achieve this feat, alongside Pragyan Ojha and Zaheer Khan.
During the game, Harshal bowled a delivery that was wide and slightly short. Dhoni tried to hit it with a cut shot but ended up sending the ball directly to Abhishek Sharma, who was positioned at backward point. Harshal expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, noting that his careful planning paid off.
In the post-match presentation, he explained, “I aimed to bowl at a specific length, not necessarily too wide. Sometimes, things don’t go as planned, but I’m glad the ball found the fielder.”
Harshal’s impressive bowling figures of 4 wickets for 33 runs helped SRH secure a five-wicket victory. He was awarded Player of the Match for his performance, which also marked SRH’s first win at Chepauk since 2013, breaking a five-match losing streak.
Reflecting on the win, Harshal said, “We’ve been working to put the pieces together for a while, and it feels great that everything clicked when we needed it most.”
Looking ahead, SRH will face Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans on May 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. To stay in the playoff race, they must win all their remaining matches without relying on net run rate calculations.
