Jammu and Kashmir Attack Update: UN Calls for Restraint from India and Pakistan

In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the United Nations has urged both India and Pakistan to show maximum restraint. Stéphane Dujarric, the spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, expressed deep concern about the situation. He stated that while the Secretary-General has not had direct contact with either government, he is closely monitoring the developments.

Dujarric strongly condemned the attack that took place on April 22, which resulted in multiple civilian casualties. He emphasized the importance of both nations coming together to resolve their differences peacefully. "We believe that any issues between Pakistan and India can and should be addressed through meaningful dialogue and engagement," he added.

The UN’s appeal aims to prevent further escalation of tensions in the region and to promote stability in an area that has seen ongoing conflict.
