The trailer for the movie Jaat, featuring Sunny Deol, was unveiled on March 24 and credited two production companies: Mythri Movie Makers, run by Naveen Yerneni and Ravi Shankar, and People Media Factory, led by T G Vishwa Prasad. However, since April 1, Zee Studios and Umesh K R Bansal have also been added to the credits. Initially, Zee Studios did not promote Jaat on their social media but started doing so on April 2. Although the logo of Zee Studios appears in the film, which is currently doing well in theaters, many were puzzled by its involvement. Some believed that Zee might have handled the film’s distribution, but in reality, the film was distributed by Anil Thadani’s AA Films.
A trade source revealed the background of this partnership: “Mythri Movie Makers needed some additional funding. Sunny Deol, who has good relations with Zee, especially after the successes of Gadar and Gadar 2, recommended them to the production house. On Sunny’s suggestion, Zee Studios agreed to lend Rs. 65 crores.”
The source further explained, “In exchange, Mythri has mortgaged the Hindi rights to their upcoming films for 2025 and 2026 and included Zee’s name among the producers of Jaat. This arrangement was accepted by Zee, which allowed them to release the funds.”
Directed by Gopichand Malineni, Jaat also features Randeep Hooda, Viineet Kumar Siingh, Regena Cassandrra, and Saiyami Kher. The film follows a mysterious man who confronts a notorious criminal in a ruthless territory. It hit theaters on April 10, earning Rs. 9.62 crores on its opening day.
Interestingly, Sunny Deol has two other projects in the works with Zee Studios—Baap, which stars Mithun Chakraborty, Sanjay Dutt, and Jackie Shroff, and the highly anticipated action drama Gadar 3.
