K Health’s AI Program Matches Doctor Recommendations in Many Cases
New York, April 4, 2025 — K Health, a leading AI platform in primary care, has revealed new study results showing its AI Physician Mode aligns well with doctors’ recommendations. In two-thirds of cases, the AI’s advice was comparable to that of experienced healthcare providers, and in the other third, the AI’s suggestions were of higher quality.
This study, conducted in collaboration with researchers from Cedars-Sinai, Tel Aviv University, and K Health, focused on acute medical issues within a virtual urgent care setting. Primary care doctors assessed and compared AI recommendations against traditional medical advice, finding that the AI was often rated more optimally than the actual decisions made by physicians.
The findings were shared during a significant plenary session at the American College of Physicians’ Internal Medicine Meeting and also published in the peer-reviewed journal Annals of Internal Medicine.
Ran Shaul, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer of K Health, explained, "Our study tested AI in real-life situations, which are often complicated by various factors. What we discovered is that when AI is trained with extensive clinical data and real-world patient experiences, it can match, and sometimes exceed, the accuracy of human doctors."
K Health’s innovations in healthcare might help improve diagnostic efficiency, allowing healthcare systems to manage more complex patient needs. The AI Physician Mode analyzes a patient’s complete medical history before visits, helping healthcare providers make informed decisions. This technology is already being utilized by prominent health systems, including Cedars-Sinai, Hackensack Meridian Health, and Hartford HealthCare.
Allon Bloch, Co-Founder and CEO of K Health, noted, "This study confirms our belief that AI trained with high-quality clinical data can enhance healthcare delivery. By merging AI with doctor expertise, we are creating a better system for patient care that ensures access, accuracy, and high clinical standards."
The research used data from Cedars-Sinai Connect, a virtual healthcare program launched in 2023. This service allows patients to access care quickly through a mobile app, catering to a range of health issues.
During the review, 461 virtual visits were analyzed, primarily focusing on patients with concerns related to respiratory, urinary, vision, or dental issues. Findings showed that in approximately two-thirds of the cases, doctors made decisions similar to those suggested by the AI. In the other third, the AI recommendations were rated as more effective almost twice as often as those of the physicians.
Dr. Caroline Goldzweig, chief medical officer at Cedars-Sinai Medical Network and co-senior author of the study, emphasized the unique strengths of AI and physician collaboration. "This research highlights how responsible AI integration can enable doctors to focus more on meaningful patient care and personal connections."
The study also revealed that potentially harmful recommendations occurred less frequently with the AI, at only 2.8%, compared to 4.6% with human doctors. The AI’s tighter adherence to medical guidelines and its ability to recognize subtle details may contribute to this difference. Remarkably, in about 20% of cases, the AI appropriately indicated uncertainty, reflecting how seasoned clinicians handle ambiguities.
