Sai Sudharsan, a player for the Gujarat Titans (GT), shared how facing tough fast bowlers has helped him improve as a T20 batter. In his four seasons with the Titans, he has scored an impressive 1,220 runs in 28 matches, averaging 48.80 with a highest score of 103.
On Wednesday, during the IPL 2025 match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Sudharsan fell just short of his third consecutive half-century, scoring 49 runs. He expressed that the time spent practicing in the nets has significantly enhanced his batting skills in this fast-paced format of the game.
Reflecting on his journey, Sudharsan mentioned, “This is my fourth year, and I’ve gained a lot of experience. Facing quality fast bowlers in challenging conditions during practice with GT has contributed greatly to my growth, especially in T20 cricket.”
Sudharsan acknowledged the key role of his teammates, particularly their international players, in his development. “The insights I’ve gained over the past three years, along with my experiences playing for India and in various leagues abroad, have helped deepen my understanding of the game,” he noted.
In addition to his performance, he praised teammate Sai Kishore, whose outstanding bowling played a crucial role in GT’s eight-wicket victory over RCB. Kishore’s figures of 2 wickets for just 22 runs in four overs marked a significant contribution, especially in a match where fast bowlers struggled on a tricky pitch.
Sudarshan remarked, “Kishore’s spell was vital because the conditions were tough for pacers. We batsmen had to capitalize on what we could against spinners. His ability to change speeds and angles was impressive, especially bowling to tough batsmen like Tim David and Liam Livingstone.”
Currently, the Gujarat Titans sit fourth in the IPL standings and will aim to improve their position when they face the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 6 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
