Riyan Parag, the young cricketer, expressed his confidence in a recent statement, declaring that he has always felt like a captain for the Rajasthan Royals since the moment he joined the franchise. Parag, who was signed by RR in 2018 and made his debut in the 2019 season, has become a key player for the team. Last season, he showcased his talent by batting at the No. 4 position and made significant contributions with the bat.
This season, while regular captain Sanju Samson recovers from an injury, Riyan was given the chance to lead the team in the first three matches. At just 24 years old, he is now one of the youngest captains in the team’s history. After facing a couple of defeats, Riyan celebrated his first victory as captain when RR triumphed over Chennai Super Kings in Guwahati.
In a post-match interview, Riyan reflected on his leadership journey, saying he has always viewed himself as a leader, regardless of his official captaincy status. “From the start, I’ve felt like I was leading the side, even when I wasn’t officially the captain,” Riyan explained. He emphasized that he approaches every game as if he is in charge, making decisions and taking responsibility for the team’s performance.
Riyan also highlighted what makes the Rajasthan Royals special. “The best part about RR is that when new players join, they have a chance to settle in and grow within the team. I think this focus on growth is what sets us apart from other franchises,” he noted.
In the match against CSK, Riyan showcased his skills by scoring 37 runs off 28 balls and made a remarkable catch to dismiss Shivam Dube, demonstrating his leadership both on and off the field.
