Recently, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) wrapped up its investigation into the tragic death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. They filed a closure report stating that no evidence of murder was found. This conclusion aligns with earlier reports from AIIMS, which indicated that Sushant’s death on June 14, 2020, was a suicide and ruled out any foul play.
In light of the closure report, Subhash Chandra, a Rajya Sabha MP and media mogul, spoke out about the media’s portrayal of the case. He stated that the lack of credible evidence led to this decision and emphasized that it implies no criminal case exists. Chandra remarked that he believes Rhea Chakraborty was wrongfully portrayed as a suspect by the media, specifically mentioning Zee News as playing a significant role in that narrative. As a mentor of the channel, he expressed regret for how Chakraborty was treated and encouraged the media to reflect and apologize for their actions.
The CBI’s investigation stemmed from allegations made against Chakraborty by Rajput’s father. At the time, Rhea was Sushant’s girlfriend, and after his death, there were several counterclaims made by her against Rajput’s family. With four years of investigations concluding without any evidence against her or her family, this effectively clears them of any wrongdoing.
Public figures like Dia Mirza and Kubbra Sait have voiced their concerns over the aggressive media coverage during this case, calling for greater accountability in journalism. The closure of this case marks the end of a long chapter filled with speculation and underscores the need for responsible reporting in the media landscape.
