Elon Musk’s Grok App Tops Android Charts, Surpassing TikTok and ChatGPT

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and owner of the AI company xAI, has shared exciting news about his latest project, Grok. The AI chatbot, launched in 2023, has recently climbed to the top spot on the Google Play Store for Android apps. Musk announced this achievement on X, formerly known as Twitter, by posting a screenshot that shows Grok at #1 in the "Top Free" category, overtaking popular apps like TikTok and ChatGPT.

In his post, Musk expressed his excitement, saying, “Cool, @Grok is #1 on Android!” Grok is designed to be a generative AI chatbot, and its recent update, Grok-3, claims to outperform OpenAI’s GPT-4o in various tests. It has been available on the Android platform since February 2025.

Musk’s screenshot appears to feature the app’s ranking in the United States. A check of the US version of the Google Play Store confirmed Grok’s number one position. The growing popularity of Grok has generated mixed reactions on social media. While many users are praising its powerful search features, some have raised concerns about its ethical implications and privacy issues.

Musk Joins Studio Ghibli Trend

In other news, Elon Musk has jumped into a fun internet trend inspired by Studio Ghibli, the beloved animation studio known for its unique art style. This trend gained momentum after OpenAI rolled out a new feature that allows users to create images in the distinct Ghibli style using GPT-4o.

Musk joined in on the fun by sharing a Studio Ghibli-themed illustration on social media. The image humorously portrays Musk as a monkey holding the popular cryptocurrency mascot, DOGE. He captioned the post, "Theme of the day," adding a light-hearted touch to his engagement with online trends.

Musk’s playful approach showcases his active involvement in both the tech world and popular culture, keeping his fans entertained and engaged.
