Ashutosh Sharma Shines in IPL Opener for Delhi Capitals
Ashutosh Sharma has made a name for himself in the Indian Premier League (IPL) with a fantastic start to the season. On March 24, he scored an impressive unbeaten 66 runs off just 31 balls, hitting five fours and six sixes. His performance was crucial in securing a nail-biting one-wicket win for the Delhi Capitals (DC) against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).
In a surprising turn of events, the Super Giants found themselves struggling at 7/3 in under two overs while chasing a target of 210 runs in Visakhapatnam. However, Ashutosh stepped up, demonstrating remarkable poise and skill. With the team needing six runs off the final over, he confidently launched a six off left-arm spinner Shahbaz Ahmed, helping DC achieve the target with three balls to spare.
Reflecting on his approach to the game, Ashutosh said, "I love playing cricket, especially batting. Every time I get an opportunity, I try to make the most of it and aim to bat for a long time. I practice a lot against spinners, focusing on connecting well with each delivery. This practice helps me improve and prepares me for critical moments in matches."
He also shared insights about his time with DC’s mentor, Kevin Pietersen, a former IPL star. After his remarkable innings, Ashutosh celebrated with Pietersen, highlighting the strong bond they share.
He expressed his gratitude, stating, "Spending time with great players like Pietersen is wonderful. Their experiences and insights during practice are invaluable. I always appreciate the chance to ask questions and learn from their journey in cricket."
Looking ahead, the Delhi Capitals will face the Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by Pat Cummins, on Sunday, March 30, at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
With Ashutosh Sharma leading the way, fans can expect an exciting season ahead!
