Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has shared that the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) reached out to him regarding his availability for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL). In a recent conversation, Taskin explained that the team wanted to know if he could secure a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
In the upcoming IPL season, no players from Bangladesh were picked during the auction. Although Mustafizur Rahman has previously played for Chennai Super Kings, he was released before this year’s big event. Other notable Bangladeshi players like Litton Das and Shakib Al Hasan have been involved in the IPL, but Taskin is still awaiting an opportunity.
In light of injuries to players Mayank Yadav and Mohsin Khan, Taskin is hopeful for a chance to join LSG if they decide to look for replacements. Renowned for being one of the few bowlers with a seven-wicket haul in a T20 match, Taskin expressed optimism about receiving the NOC if the Super Giants call on him.
“The reason for their contact was that no Bangladeshi cricketer was selected in the mega auction. In major tournaments, teams often look for replacement players. Lucknow got in touch with me to see if I’d be available as a backup. They asked if I could obtain an NOC if needed,” Taskin informed reporters in Bangladesh.
He added, “If they need me and I am fit, then considering the NOC will be the first step. I’ve already talked to the board, and I’m hopeful that if I receive a call, getting the NOC shouldn’t be an issue this time around.”
Within the LSG selection, Taskin is among several fast bowlers, including Rajvardhan Hangargekar, Shamar Joseph, and Avesh Khan. The Super Giants are set to kick off their IPL campaign on March 24 against the Delhi Capitals, led by Axar Patel, at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
