Ukraine’s Stance on Possible Ceasefire: Aiming for Peace Without Compromises
NEW DELHI: Ukraine’s Foreign Minister, Andrii Sybiha, expressed the country’s commitment to finding a peaceful solution to the ongoing conflict with Russia. He emphasized that while Ukraine is open to negotiations, it will not sacrifice its territorial integrity. His comments came ahead of a scheduled call between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin regarding a proposed ceasefire.
"We are not standing in the way of peace," Sybiha stated during a session at the Raisina Dialogue. He called on Russia to agree unconditionally to a ceasefire, indicating that this step is essential for progress. Sybiha believes that a clear understanding about the ceasefire would come after the conversation between Trump and Putin.
He further noted that achieving a lasting peace is in everyone’s best interest and expressed Ukraine’s acceptance of a U.S.-suggested 30-day ceasefire with Russia, highlighting the country’s willingness to cooperate towards peace efforts.
