Pritam Stands by BLACKPINK’s Jennie in Plagiarism Debate: Bollywood Buzz

This month, BLACKPINK’s Jennie has stirred up some controversy with her new song titled “Like Jennie.” Many fans have noticed that it sounds very similar to the “Rani Theme” from the Bollywood film “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,” which was composed by Pritam Chakraborty. As the discussions heated up on social media, some were quick to accuse Jennie of copying, prompting Pritam to step in and show his support for the artist.

Pritam took to Instagram to address the situation, clarifying that sometimes coincidences happen in music. He stated, “Rani and Jennie are names that rhyme, so a similar flow doesn’t mean it’s a copy. In music, it’s normal to find minor similarities.” He emphasized that instead of focusing on these small details, people should appreciate the bigger picture. According to Pritam, in a world where artists are closely connected, no one is intentionally trying to copy another’s work. He noted that creating music is a labor-intensive process, and collaboration could be the best way to bring ideas to life.

He encouraged creativity and the notion that music can be about influence and sometimes mere chance. He also wished Jennie the best for her new album before concluding his statement.

The comparisons between the “Rani Theme” and the catchy rhythms in Jennie’s “Like Jennie” have sparked a lot of chatter on social media, with fans calling out similarities. This debate has brought attention to broader issues of cultural exchange and the fine line between inspiration and copying in the music world, showing just how interconnected artists can be today.
