Donald Trump Sends a Note to Elon Musk: Great Work, But…

In a recent social media post, former US President Donald Trump expressed his admiration for Elon Musk, urging him to take even bolder steps in his role reshaping the federal workforce. Trump wrote, “ELON IS DOING A GREAT JOB, BUT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIM GET MORE AGGRESSIVE. REMEMBER, WE HAVE A COUNTRY TO SAVE, BUT ULTIMATELY, TO MAKE GREATER THAN EVER BEFORE.”

Musk quickly replied to Trump’s message with a simple affirmation: “Will do, Mr. President!” He then introduced new measures aimed at increasing accountability among federal employees. According to Musk, all federal workers will soon receive an email asking them to report on their accomplishments from the previous week. He also noted that failure to respond will be considered as a resignation.

In his position at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), Musk has brought in strategies similar to those he employed at X, previously known as Twitter. Musk had a reputation for demanding a rigorous work culture at X, prompting employees to either commit to a high-performance environment or leave. His earlier initiatives included policies requiring federal workers to return to the office and offering buyouts to staff.

The administration revealed that approximately 77,000 employees, making up about 3% of the civilian workforce, accepted buyout offers during significant layoffs across multiple agencies. Under Musk’s leadership, DOGE has also cut over 1,000 federal contracts that were viewed as unnecessary or wasteful. The department claims to have saved around $55 billion in federal spending so far, although further examination shows detailed savings of about $16 billion.

Musk’s approach continues to draw attention, and his commitment to making government operations more efficient remains a priority.
