Mamta Kulkarni, a former Bollywood actress, has made headlines after returning to her hometown of Mumbai following a lengthy absence. She had been out of the country due to allegations related to a drug case involving her partner, Vicky Goswami. Upon her return, speculations arose about her potential comeback to acting. However, Mamta has announced her intention to embark on a new spiritual path, choosing to leave behind her past life.
In several videos shared on social media, Mamta is seen participating in rituals that mark her transition into monkhood. She has taken on a new name, Shri Yamai Mamta Nandgiri, and is being welcomed by the Kinnar Akhada. Acharya Mahamandleshwar Laxmi Narayan remarked on her commitment to this new path, stating that she has been in contact with the Akhada for over a year and has expressed her desire to serve without any restrictions on her personal expression.
During these ceremonies, Mamta performed traditional rites including ‘pind dhaan,’ which drew significant attention online. In a conversation with India Today, she confirmed that returning to the film industry is not part of her plans, declaring, “I can’t even imagine doing films again. It is absolutely impossible for me now.” She expressed her gratitude for the spiritual honor she received at Kumbh Mela, stating, “It’s only with the blessings of the Goddess Adishakti that I have been bestowed with this honour. I chose Kinnar Akhada because it symbolizes freedom.”
Once a popular actress, Mamta photographed alongside prominent stars like Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, she has now firmly set her sights on a different journey, leaving her film career behind.
