Suryakumar Yadav Announces Changes in India’s Squad for 2nd T20I Against England

India’s cricket captain, Suryakumar Yadav, has announced some changes in the team for the second T20I against England in Chennai. Washington Sundar and Dhruv Jurel have replaced the injured Rinku Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy. India won the toss and decided to bowl first in this match, which is part of a five-match T20I series.

Mohammed Shami, the seasoned fast bowler, will not make his return just yet, as he was not selected for this match. Although Shami participated in practice, the team management has opted to keep him out of the initial two T20Is against England. With Shami’s absence, Arshdeep Singh remains the only specialist pacer, while India fields four spinners at the Chepauk stadium.

Injury updates reveal that Nitish has a side strain he picked up during practice, which has ruled him out for the series. Rinku Singh is also missing from the lineup due to a lower back spasm and will be out for the second and third T20Is. Although Shivam Dube and Ramandeep Singh have been added to the squad, they will join the team in the third match. On a positive note, Abhishek Sharma has recovered from an ankle injury and is available to play in Chennai. Losing Rinku, who was the Player of the Match in Kolkata, would have been a serious setback for the team.

Both Rinku Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy did not get a chance to bat in the first game, which India won convincingly by seven wickets. The spotlight will now be on their replacements, with Dhruv Jurel, who has played two T20Is previously, eager to make his mark in this format. Washington Sundar has been performing well in recent Test matches and brings valuable experience to the squad, especially as he plays at his home ground. His spin bowling could be crucial against a team that typically struggles against spinners.

At the toss, Suryakumar Yadav expressed his optimism about the match, saying, "We’ll look to bowl first. The pitch looks good, and there was a bit of dew yesterday. We’re hoping for it to remain consistent in the evening. We want to stick to our basics and maintain the approach we had in the last game across all departments."

He added, "I’m looking forward to the game. Fielding brings everyone together, creating energy and positivity. Unfortunately, Nitish is out, but Rinku should recover quickly. We are excited to have local player Washington Sundar and Dhruv Jurel stepping in."

India’s Playing XI: Sanju Samson (w), Abhishek Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav (c), Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Dhruv Jurel, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy.

England’s Playing XI: Ben Duckett, Philip Salt (w), Jos Buttler (c), Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Jamie Smith, Jamie Overton, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood.
