Yash Raj Films (YRF) has acquired the global distribution rights for the much-anticipated historical drama, Chhaava. The film, featuring Vicky Kaushal in the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, is directed by Laxman Utekar and is set to hit screens on February 14, 2025. This release date has been pushed back from the original plan of December 2024. The announcement was made on YRF’s official social media after an impressive trailer launch at Plaza cinema in Mumbai.
The newly released trailer gives viewers a thrilling peek into the grand story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who took the throne after the passing of his father, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The high production values reflect YRF’s dedication to creating a cinematic experience that respects historical events while captivating today’s audiences.
At the trailer launch, Vicky spoke about his preparation for the role. He mentioned, “My last action film was Uri: The Surgical Strike back in 2019, and since then, I’ve been eager to dive into action again. I didn’t expect to ride horses and wield swords! Everything was new for me. I had to learn horse riding and also how to handle swords and spears. I trained for six months and gained about 25 kilograms for this role, moving from 80 to 105 kilograms. Prior to shooting, we did extensive action training which was a huge support to me.”
In addition to Vicky Kaushal, Chhaava boasts an impressive cast, including Rashmika Mandanna, Akshaye Khanna, and Diana Penty. The film is also enhanced by the musical score from Academy Award-winning composer A.R. Rahman, adding emotional depth and a touch of historical elegance to the storyline.
Fans eagerly await the release of Chhaava on February 14, 2025.
