A significant event is on the horizon that aims to connect with the Indian community living abroad. This convention is a key opportunity for members of the Indian diaspora from over 50 countries to come together and interact, many of whom hold influential positions in their respective nations.
According to the External Affairs Ministry, many individuals from this global community have already signed up to attend this prominent event. In a special effort, Prime Minister Modi will virtually launch the first trip of the Pravasi Bharatiya Express— a tourist train specifically designed for the Indian diaspora.
The train will start its three-week journey from Nizamuddin Railway Station in Delhi, visiting important religious and tourist sites across India, under the Pravasi Teertha Darshan Yojana initiated by the Ministry of External Affairs.
The event will feature several notable programs, including a presentation titled ‘Vishwaroop Ram – The Universal Legacy of Ramayana,’ showcasing the classic story of the Ramayana through a mix of traditional and modern artistic expressions. Another highlight, ‘Diaspora’s Contribution to Technology and Viksit Bharat,’ will focus on how the Indian diaspora has played a vital role in technology around the world.
Attendees will also explore ‘Spread and Evolution of the Indian Diaspora with a Focus on Mandvi to Muscat,’ which will display rare documents from Indian migrants traveling from Mandvi in Gujarat to Muscat in Oman. Additionally, ‘Heritage and Culture of Odisha’ will celebrate Odisha’s rich cultural traditions, with an emphasis on its distinctive artistic heritage.
President Droupadi Murmu will lead the concluding session of the gathering, where she will present the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Awards 2025 to outstanding members of the diaspora, honoring their achievements across various domains.
Moreover, the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas is set to take place on January 8, 2025, in partnership with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Dr. Dev Pragad, CEO of Newsweek, will be the special guest for this segment.
