In a celebration of outstanding achievements, President Droupadi Murmu will present the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award during the closing session of the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention. This announcement was made by the Ministry of External Affairs on Friday.
These prestigious awards aim to honor the notable contributions of the Indian diaspora in various fields. This year, among the honored recipients is Baroness Usha Kumari Prashar from the UK, recognized for her work in politics, and Dr. Sharmila Ford from the United States, who is acknowledged for her dedicated community service. Additionally, groups such as Saraswati Vidya Niketan from Guyana and Hindustani Samaj from Russia will be celebrated for their important contributions to community welfare.
The award winners were chosen by a Jury-cum-Awards Committee led by the Vice-President, with the External Affairs Minister acting as Vice-Chair. The 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Convention will be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, from January 8 to 10.
