Srinivas expressed surprise at the widespread belief that H-1B visa holders are taking jobs away from American workers who have recently been laid off. He made it clear that Indians are also facing layoffs and stressed that the government should focus on resolving issues related to illegal immigration. “The numbers in illegal immigration are significantly higher, and the sectors affected by layoffs aren’t necessarily the ones where Indian H-1B applicants come from. If people analyzed the data, their anger might diminish,” he explained.

Srinivas also defended Sriram Krishnan, who has been appointed as an AI policy advisor, against past criticisms regarding his support for H-1B visas.
